The group has been operating for more than 25 years and consists of around 80 independent specialist menswear retailers who combine their buying strength together to make advantageous purchases from selected suppliers which goes substantially to increase their margins.
Members usually meet twice a year - early February and early September - when selected suppliers show their products for the season ahead. Members are not expected to make substantial purchases but it is a very cost effective way to achieve a large part of a seasons buying in two days. In addition to the show, a number of suppliers get substantial support from the Group and although not at the show, offer a retrospective discount or reduction off the face value of the invoice because of the volume of business the Group places.
For a quick response for specials that cannot be obtained from the suppliers we have a circular fax system to all our members and often a garment can be obtained from another member if not from the supplier. This also enables special offers from suppliers to be quickly circulated which happens from time to time. Our meetings are so organised that members can readily exchange ideas which in itself is stimulating.
